Hi Everybody,

I've just updated Rope (dropbox folder: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/l7oeau0r5uj4jx5/AAC58_J-N4XrsEKfpumPhle3a)

Now the assembler (autocoder) doesn't complain if there is text going on column 72 and beyond. Also a problem reported by Stan causing autocoder to append the very first card after the last one has been fixed.

best,

Luca

A grump - getting ROPE downloaded into Windows 7 is more difficult than into say XP
- Windows 7 is just a lot more awkward for "developers", like you and me ;-))

  1. You must be ( On-Line ) to the Internet, hopefully not behind a company "FireWall"

  2. activate "Windows Explorer" (this is not "Internet Explorer") by
    1. in the lower left of the screen, click on "Start"
    2. in the new window, click on "Computer"
    3. This brings up a little window called "Computer" which shows your disks
    4. DoubleClick on your " C: " drive which shows the directories (folders) it contains

  3. It is best if you make a new directory (folder), lets call it "ROPE"
    1. on the third line down from the top on this little window, find "New Folder" and click it
    2. A blue bar with "New Folder" is displayed in that little window
    3. Move your cusor into "New Folder" and replace that name with say "ROPE"
    4. Depress your "Enter" key, and the name changes to "ROPE"
    5. If you mess up, you can DELETE the mis-named folder,
      - placing it in the RECYCLE area, and go to "a" above ;-))

  4. You can start the download of Ron Mak's latest by click here

  5. Another little window opens labled "Opening ROPE1401v07.zip"
    1. click on the "Open with" radio button, the option window probably shows "Windows Explorer (default)
      - this is good -
    2. Click on the greyed out "OK" button, causing it to be active
    3. Click on it again - this will cause the 425 KB download - time depends on your line speed.
    4. Soon another "Windows Explorer" window open, labled in part "AppData^Local^Temp^ROPE1401v07.zip"
      - this displays the names of the 18 files compressed into the .zip file

  6. An option in this window is "Extract all files", click on this

  7. Another window labeled "Extract Compressed (Zipped) Folders" opens
    1. A typable window opens with the button "Browse..." on its right.
    2. Click on "Brouse..." which displays folders
      - another little window "Select adestination" opens
      - browse about looking for your " C: " drive and your new " ROPE " folder
      - click " OK " to select that destination
    3. "Check", make it have a check mark" the option "Show extracted files when compete"
    4. Click on the " Extract " button

  8. After some flashes,
    - you are looking at a " Windows Explorer " window with about 18 oddly names files
    - the file you want to start is " ROPE1401.jar "

  9. Double click on " ROPE1401.jar ", and if you have JAVA installed and able to activate,
    - you get the opening " ROPE " window
    - labeled " ROPE/1401 by Ronald Mak (Version 0.7 Beta) " :-))

  10. Click here for Getting Started with ROPE
